Professionalism & Boundaries

Boundaries are limits that protect both the caregiver and the client from harm or discomfort. Physical boundaries include respecting personal space and privacy. Emotional boundaries involve not becoming overly involved in a client’s personal issues. Agencies have policies to guide caregivers in maintaining these boundaries. Ultimately, maintaining boundaries in caregiving is about creating a supportive environment where both the caregiver and the care recipient can thrive, enhancing the quality of the caregiving relationship.
